Eric McHenry

Hi my Name is Eric McHenry. I was born and raised in San Diego. Growing up surfing, skating and riding bikes. I’ve lived in just about every beach town in this beautiful city. I was lucky to have an amazing surfing career that allowed me travel the world.

Now I’d like to share some of that experience with you. Wether it be catching your first wave or biking down the coast checking out some of our pristine beaches and sights. We will be stopping for photos along the way, so you can share your exciting experience enjoying some of the great things San Diego has to offer.

Joe Paradise

Hi my name is Joe Paradise. I was born and raised in San Diego, CA. I have been an avid surfer since the age of 10. I have been surfing Solana Beach Pillbox for over 30 years and know the break inside and out. I take pride in teaching and coaching and water safety is always my number one priority. Come join us in the amazing experience we have to offer that is filled with fun, knowledge and excitement and a good workout.

I’m also a adrenaline junky and love the outdoors. Let us take you on a guided electric bike tour to all the best destinations in the area. Our 2 hour guided bike tours go from our location north to Moonlight beach Encinitas or South to Torrey Pines Delmar.

We had a full educational session with Joe before going into the ocean with Eric.  I had to bribe them (with another lesson the next day) to leave.  Absolutely recommend!

My group has never touched a surf board before today, yet we were able to stand on the board and catch waves by the end of the experience. Eric is very patient and consistent in his teaching. His instructions were easy to follow, clear, and encouraging. The owner, Joe was extremely hospitable. We spent time at his shop after surfing to play ping pong and check out his handmade surf jewelry. I highly recommend this experience to anyone passing through town looking for a unique, beginner friendly, south Cali experience! Tips: - Free 4 hour parking in a lot behind the shop. Read the curb for the designated 4 hour parking spots. - Wear a bathing suit and opt for the full wet suit. - After the lesson you can take a 1 minute warm shower at the shop. Leave your spare dry clothes at the shop to change into post shower. - Bring sandals, a towel, underwear/bra to change into after your shower, your phone for before/after photos with your board, and sun protection.

They both stood up and rode all the way in multiple times. The instructor was so helpful and everyone was friendly and encouraging. They decided to rent a board for the rest of the day to try on their own and I'm enjoying watching them from a rental chair and umbrella.
